Banded sugar ants are the larger ants you often see at night around Mount Gravatt, running along benches, walls and window frames once the house goes quiet. They have an orange-brown band around the body and can look alarming because of their size. They are after sweet food and water, and they nest in soil, under paving, in old timber or in wall cavities.
Because sugar ants are most active after dark, people often only see them when they turn the kitchen light on. When you call, tell us when and where you see them.
